Inside the Village Hall

THE HALL INTERIOR HAS RECENTLY UNDERGONE A MAJOR UPGRADE.

Please note that the old stage area has now been removed to make space for our new electronic door and the hall has undergone a major refurbishment.

Building work started in January 2016 with funding from the BIG LOTTERY - Awards for All (England), with the removal of the stage and proscenium arch. Then the stage-end wall was fitted with wind-proofing material and re-clad with plasterboard. and a space made ready for the new door. Then our new electronic door was installed, operated by push-pads fitted inside and out. The path outside the door has been raised to form a ramp to make a level entry area. All this was made possible by the funding by the BIG LOTTERY - Awards for All (England), to whom we are immensely grateful.

During the refurbishment, thanks to money received from "WESLEY's" (the Methodist Church in Ludlow), Severn Trent Water, and Caynham Parish Council, the old wooden floor was taken up, and 100mm commercial foam insulation was fitted between the floor joists, to make the hall warmer and draught-free. Once that was done, a new sub-floor of 22mm interlocking caber flooring was laid on the joists, to make a firm underfloor, and a new commercial-standard vinyl top surface was put down. Finally, all the walls were painted.

Our most recent sponsor, the GARFIELD WESTON FOUNDATION, generously awarded us a grant of £2,500 which has been put towards the cost of renewing all the exterior black wooden cladding, plus some electrical upgrade work.
