Sun 05 July 2009 - Progressive Lunch a great success

104 adults and 23 children enjoyed the Caynham Progressive Lunch on Sunday July 5. The day dawned clear and sunny and the weather held up until after all the clearing up had taken place in the afternoon.

Emma Dajavs, Tamsin Griffiths, Caroline Prentice, Caroline’s mother Mrs Tillotson and Angela Price helped Louise Stevenson and her daughter Siiri with the starters which were served at Caynham Cottage. Melon, pâté and soups were on the menu there.

Jenny Daniel, Ann Tyler, Diane Stone, Chris King and Nancy Pike (pictured from left to right here) made sure that that the main course in the Village Hall was efficiently served, with the help of Bette Andrews, Sheila Bennett’s cooking and the organisational skills of their men folk. Many thanks to Peter and Deborah Cook of Prices the Bakers who donated delicious Welsh flatbread and rolls, as well as attending the event. Their generosity and support is much appreciated.

Desserts were at Primrose Bank where Jill and Ray Bufton were helped by Jane Wakeham, Ann Reid and Juliette and Lydia Jones. Ted King ran the raffle. The eventual profit was £836.21 divided equally between the school, village hall and church. It was almost £100 more than last year—well done everyone who worked so hard to make the lunch a success, and many thanks to the bumper crowd who turned up to enjoy the occasion. Thank you to Jill’s brother for lending his marquee which came in handy on July 12th too.
