Caynham Village, Shropshire
St. Mary’s Church -
Caynham Churchyard Open Spaces Project
Caynham Parish Church is seeking to help initiate a new community project to improve the quality of Caynham churchyard’s environment and the way that certain areas of this historic and sacred space are used.
Caynham churchyard is large and generally well maintained within the village’s resources but needs improvement. If we are successful in raising funds and with a level of volunteer work, we should be able to address some of the following:
Your Views Are Important
As part of the process we also hope to survey the churchyard and draw up a conservation management plan to help secure its future. As you can see, there are lots of exciting aspects to the project!
We would appreciate your support for the project concept and also your views and suggestions on the proposals themselves. There may issues that we have missed or could look into. Do you have ideas that we could take forward and, if you wish to be involved in their implementation, how would you like us to take that involvement forward? In particular, if you would like to visit the churchyard and give us your thoughts, this would be something that we would very much encourage.
There may be other priorities for the churchyard that you can think of. If so let us know – either pin a note on the notice board in the church porch or write to us at the church, or email us at caynhamopenspaces@gmail.com. We value your input.
We hope that the project will encourage use of the only publicly available space in the village. By providing safe access and making information available the area would be further improved to the benefit of people living in the village and also for tourists, walkers and users of the school.
The village has already been made aware of our proposals through our village magazine and we will arrange a public presentation to discuss the proposals and to provide an opportunity for public input.
We hope that this project will help enhance life in our small village which, only a few years ago, was the Calor Shropshire Village of the Year and we would very much appreciate your support.
