There was an excellent turnout at Caynham's launch on the 7th December 2005, with
over 40 people attending.
The launch gave people the opportunity to have a look at the high tech
facilities and talk to the Broadplace Steering Group about activities they
would like to get involved with.
As people arrived they were able to register on-line and have a go on the
laptops. There were a variety of activities for the young people who came
along, including computer games and getting those important emails off to
Santa!
The event was opened by County Councillor Vivienne Parry who talked about
her own experiences as a computer novice. She said "I am so pleased that
Caynham has taken up the opportunity to become a Broadplace, particularly
for the young people in the village. It will open up doors for many people,
especially those who feel intimidated by the technology".
Following the buffet there was a live web cam link with Quatt Broadplace
near Bridgnorth. The launch guests were impressed by Quatt's efforts at
dressing up especially for the occasion. Quatt is fast getting a reputation
for creativity! It was a good example of how the established Broadplaces can
support the new ones starting up.
